MEET DAVID
David Kampmann earned the degrees of Masters of Fine Arts from Stanford University in 1976 and Bachelor of Fine Arts from the San Francisco Art Institute in 1970, studying with Nathan Oliveira, Frank Lobdell, Joan Brown and Jack Jefferson among others. The major influence on his work is the classical figurative tradition.

The large studio painting Stigmata of Francis was included in the Crocker-Kingsley 2005 exhibition, a large seascape in the Palm Springs Desert Museum National Juried Exhibition 2002, and the San Jose Art League ‘21 Contemporary American Realists’ in 1982.

Kampmann had an exhibition of his large studio paintings at San Jose Museum of Art in 1982. His work was shown in ‘Stanford Artists in New York’, Charles Cowles Annex Gallery, NY, 1987, Fishers of Men, a mini retrospective at Starr King Galleries, SF in 2005, at Stanford Faculty Club Gallery, 2008 of his Lighthouse series and landscapes, Shandravan Gallery, Oakland, 2012, and Dogs and Icons in 2017.
